“As a criminal trial lawyer for the past 40 years, I have worked with many experts. The area of expertise I always found the most difficult to locate an expert in was firearms. Fortunately, several years back I was referred to the “Bullet Lady.” Jamie is one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable experts I have worked with…”

Other Analyses & Tests Available

When your case requires specialized forensic insight beyond standard firearm examination, Jamie provides a range of advanced analyses and tests designed to clarify what the physical evidence truly shows and help you determine how each finding fits into your overall legal strategy.

  • Distance Determination. Also called muzzle-to-target proximity testing, Jamie can examine evidence for gunshot residues and determine what the pattern means, in terms of distance. In addition, she can:

    • Produce test patterns for the consulting pathologist and/or perform non-destructive examinations of the evidence (e.g., infrared photography).

    • Field-test objects for the presence of residues (e.g., lead) consistent with the passage of a bullet.

  • Crime Scene Evaluation. Get an unbiased and thoroughly documented analysis of the firearm-related evidence collected from a crime scene. Jamie reviews the photographs, diagrams, evidence inventory logs, and the investigators’ report through a detail-oriented lens to find information or evidence that’s often overlooked.

  • Wound Assessment. Understand what the gunshot wounds, muzzle impressions, and gunpowder residues mean, as reported by the pathologist/medical professional, with an insightful evaluation and explanation of the autopsy/medical report, diagrams, and photographs of the victim.

  • Additional Tests. Cartridge case ejections patterning, fracture-matching of broken items, and tool mark examinations (e.g., knife wounds in cartilage, tool marks from break-ins, potential insurance fraud claims).

  • Services for Labs. Jamie can assemble a team of experts to work down a backlog of pending cases or re-examine cases identified in a corrective action review. Contract work is available upon request—Becker Forensics LLC is a verified business on SAM.org (DUNS, UEI, and CAGE numbers available). Jamie can also recommend trusted, vetted forensic experts who may be better suited for your case or who can support your team alongside her.

Jamie’s advanced analyses bring clarity to situations where evidence may be fragmented, misinterpreted, or partially documented, ensuring nothing is overlooked.

As a result, you’ll be able to understand the full context of the firearm-related evidence, identify inaccuracies or gaps in prior work, and present a stronger, well-supported narrative in court.

What attorneys say about Jamie becker…

“Jamie is the go-to firearms expert in Texas. I worked with Jamie on a high-profile case where she went above and beyond to help our young client. She was able to break down difficult concepts for me, which helped me explain them to a jury. She was always available when I had questions and made me feel comfortable with her assessment of the issues. We were able to get a good result for our client, in large part because of Jamie's work. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an honest firearms expert.”

— J.M., Criminal Defense Attorney

“Jamie is the go-to firearms examiner for both defense and state in the North Texas region. She can always be counted on to give an informed, honest opinion. Jamie knows her subject matter inside and out. Her wealth of experience and knowledge comes through on the witness stand. Jamie has a great deal of experience testifying in high-profile and complicated cases and always communicates effectively with the jury.”

— B.G., Attorney at Law

“If you need a true firearm and toolmark expert, Jamie should be your go-to. She is qualified, respected, approachable, and always thoroughly prepared.”

— J.F., Attorney at Law

“I have used Jamie's expert firearm consultations on capital murder cases… I’ve always found her to be the consummate professional. Her insights and work product are always top-notch, and I appreciate her ability to distill complex concepts into everyday talk for trial purposes. I have witnessed her hard work firsthand. She would be my first choice for a firearms expert in any case of substance.”

— J.E., Criminal Defense Attorney

“I retained Jamie for an officer-involved shooting case in which I represented the officer. The plaintiff was disputing the officer’s testimony that he was locked in a physical struggle with the suspect when the shooting occurred… Jamie determined that both the state forensic pathologist and the plaintiff’s expert had misinterpreted the suspect’s wounds during the autopsy by failing to notice the gunshot residue on the skin and clothing. Jamie’s report was so compelling that the plaintiff’s expert admitted in his deposition that his wound interpretation was erroneous, and that Jamie’s conclusions—supported with the report of our pathologist—were correct. Jamie’s work was indispensable in enabling us to prove that the officer’s testimony was truthful and to obtain summary judgment for the officer.”

— J.P., Attorney at Law

“If my case has toolmarks or guns, Jamie is automatic. (No charge for the bad pun.)”

— D.P., Attorney at Law
